Hot Cocoa

Hey, MadVitality told me to use more herbs…chocolate is an herb :)

Highly addictive and delicious but…

cacao also contains polyphenols which are antioxidants that can help fight neurodegenerative disorders. Another key feature of cacao is magnesium, which is important for regulating muscle and nerve function, lowering blood pressure, and helping to ease digestion. Cacao contains anandamide, a cannabinoid receptor where tryptophan can be found. Tryptophan is a precursor to serotonin, which plays a vital role in the central nervous system. In addition, serotonin is a hormone that stabilizes your mood, sexual function, well-being, and happiness.

To reap the benefits of chocolate, purchase 70% cacao containing properties. Moderation is key — for a daily dose, aim for two squares of chocolate.

Chocolate comes from cacao, which is a tree. That makes it a plant. Chocolate is a salad!

Hot Cocoa Recipe?

Yes, please!

Ingredients needed:

2.5 cups of milk ( I prefer creamy cashew for this)

¼ tsp cayenne pepper or to taste

¼ tsp ground cinnamon

½ vanilla bean or 1 tsp vanilla extract

1 cardamom pod

4 tsp raw cacao powder

Garnish:

Whipped cream of choice

Nutmeg

1 cinnamon stick

How to make:

Add all the ingredients into a sauce pan. While stirring, warm the mixture slowly over medium - low heat until the bubbles begin to appear on the surface. Reduce heat to simmer for 3-5 minutes. Pour into 2 mugs, top with whipped cream, grated nutmeg, and add a cinnamon stick to stir.

Enjoy!

Tip: Raw chocolate is bitter. Combining vanilla and cinnamon will help balance the flavor. If you prefer your hot chocolate a little sweeter, add honey, agave, or your favorite sweetener to taste!

Stay cozy and share your hot cocoa experience below!

With Love,
